Join us for a free workshop on end-of-life medical care planning. Many people don’t realize that if no plans are in place, the medical community will default to keeping them alive as long as possible—a choice some may prefer. However, everyone has the right to make informed decisions about their care, including options like Allow Natural Death, Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders, and limits on life-extending treatments, especially in cases of dementia or terminal illness.
In this workshop, we’ll explore essential Advance Directives, such as Living Wills and Powers of Attorney for Health Care, which every adult should have. We’ll also discuss medical orders for those nearing the end of life, including Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST). Additional topics include specialized directives for individuals with dementia or those in the LGBTQ+ community, as well as Washington, DC’s legislation on Medical Aid in Dying.
If you're ready, you’ll also have the opportunity to prepare and witness documents to ensure your wishes are clearly communicated to both your loved ones and the medical community.
This workshop will be led by Kye Briesath, Life Journey Coach.
